Talent & Workforce
Cleveland+ boasts top research talent in neurostimulation, represented by the many neuroscientists, engineers and physicians employed in the area’s nationally ranked academic and clinical institutions, and in regional initiatives such as the Functional Electronic Stimulation (FES) Center and the Ohio Neurostimulation and Neuromodulation Partnership. This pioneering research has attracted experienced biomedical entrepreneurs who have recently developed eight neurostimulation companies in Northeast Ohio.
Additionally, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a deep pool of manufacturing workers currently employed in the region that could meet the production workforce needs of neurostimulation medical device companies as the market continues to develop. Due to favorable commute times, an above average transportation system and a positive work culture, companies are also able to draw workers from a wider geography and deeper pool than other similar size markets.
Cleveland+ has many prestigious colleges and universities that provide a pipeline of future workers as well as customized training for companies. Schools such as Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University and The University of Akron are known for their engineering expertise, while community colleges such as Cuyahoga Community College and Lakeland Community develop technical capabilities for medical device businesses.
